Our Needs

Many talented people are needed to work at the Tampa Seafarers Center.  Volunteers play an essential role in our mission.  We could use your help too.  Please review the following information and consider being a part of a great outreach to people from all over the world.  Please feel free to call or visit the Seafarers Center and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

How Can I Help?

Administrative needs:

Technology Specialist:  Maintains Ministry website, social media, and puts together the technical side of publishing our newsletter with Mail Chimp.

Office Specialist:  Computer entry, file maintenance.

Grant Specialist:  Researches and assist in applying for relevant grants.

Events Specialist:  Assistance is needed in all aspects of putting on our various fundraising events.  For example:  working on a sponsorship committee, working on an auction committee, etc.

 

Ministry needs:

Ship visitors:  Visit cargo ships as they arrive in port and inform crew members of the services available at the Seafarers Center.  (Requires port pass and TWIC card)

Driver:  Respond to ships to provide transportation for crew members from the ship to the Seafarers Center or to local shopping venues.  (Requires port pass, TWIC card and Drivers license with clean DMV record)

 

Maintenance needs:

Cleaner:  Cleans center, sweeps and mops floors, wipes down computers and tables and empties trash cans.

Yard work:  Mows grass, trims bushes, cleans up outside areas.

Auto detailers:  Wash and vacuum out the ministry vehicles to keep them presentable.

Building maintenance:  Replace burned out florescent lights as needed, replace door jam seals, maintain air conditioning system by changing filters, etc.

 

Items needed by donation:

Bibles, Men’s clothing items, Shampoo and snack items for ships store, Christian books and CD’s
